BELTED KINGFISHERS ALONG THE SALT LAKE/JORDAN RIVER CORRIDOR

At this oxbow located at about 5000 South/Murray/Jordan River Parkway, a Belted Kingfisher

can be observed with great regularity.

Below, notice on the left, a female Belted Kingfisher; and a male on the right.

Here we see a flying sequence of a Kingfisher, combined onto a single background. These images were created by shooting the same bird at 8 frames per second.

This bird is only stationary for a few moments before diving for a fish.

Trying to photograph the 'power dive' is a difficult feat... some blurring is the result.

This bird has captured a tiny fish, although it is difficult to see due to motion blur.

Here is a series of images showing a male Belted Kingfisher in flight, as he hovers over the pond at Winchester Park, seeking small fish to consume.
